NEW TERM TO DRIVE TRANSFORMATION
PIKOM announces the extension of term for Shaifubahrim Saleh as President
Kuala Lumpur, Thursday (May 17, 2012) – PIKOM, the National ICT Association of Malaysia, is pleased to announced that Shaifubahrim Saleh’s term as president has been extended for a further two years. Shaifubahrim’s first term as president was from 14 May 2010 to 13 May 2012.
“I am delighted to announce that the PIKOM Council has extended the term of service for Shaifu. He has served the association, its members and the industry diligently and effectively during the his term as president. I am excited that Shaifu would be continuing to serve in the industry in this capacity for a further two years.” said Woon Tai Hai, PIKOM chairman.
During the last two years a number of key and significant events have been initiated, including for the first time introduced the Digital Lifestyle Expo and World Cyber Games – Malaysia in 2010. Coupled with cementing our position as the voice of the industry, PIKOM embarked on the SME Business Success with ICT, a nationwide seminar reaching out to SME end-users.
In 2011, PIKOM celebrated our 25th year and reached a major milestone with 1,500 members. The membership represents the entire spectrum of ICT products and services, with more than 50% of the members from outside the Klang Valley. The culmination of the 25th anniversary celebration was the gala dinner where the ICT Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for his contribution to the development of the ICT industry.
“The foundation has been laid and the goals are in sight. The Council and I look forward to working with Shaifu at this exciting juncture in our journey. The current PIKOM 5 year plan expires in 2012 and together with the Council, I will be working with Shaifu and the entire team to implement the plans for the next 5 years.” added Woon, alluding to the fact that PIKOM will be moving into a new and larger premises in the near future.
Shaifubahrim joined PIKOM after an illustrious career in the ICT industry spanning over a quarter of a century, holding key positions in multinational corporations and as an entrepreneur. He has also served PIKOM in various capacities for the last 20 years including as chairman from 1997-1999.
“Shaifu is well suited to take PIKOM to new heights.” concluded Woon.
